Character Summary

Coonskin, the mutant raccoon, was recently created by the Mutant Guerrillas in Super Battlers 4 in response to two things — the departure of Manchomper, the mutant Canadian beaver, when he left town to pursue his dreams of finally devouring former White Battler J.J. Rountree, who’d left town for Los Angeles, and the addition of Richard Montgomery to the Battlers to take J.J.’s place as the White Battler. When Hurtle, his commander, saw how strong the Mutant Guerrillas’ new addition looked, he was sure the Battlers would be no match for their team.

Coonskin ambushed Richard with a tackle in Book 42 and made his intentions toward him very clear — like most of the Battlers’ enemies, he wanted to eat him. So he washed him off in the river and, seeing him fairly clean, attempted to eat him. But Richard broke free of his grasp and fought him hard. It was a fairly short battle, but it was heated and resulted in Richard’s victory with a well-placed Water Gun. Although he was beaten, Coonskin vowed to see Richard again in the future.

In Book 43, Coonskin and the other Mutant Guerrillas ambushed the Battlers in the park. They not only did their usual routine of threatening them with death, but they also surprised them by revealing his addition to their group. They also had to tell them about Manchomper’s departure. Coonskin then engaged in his second battle with Richard. Unfortunately, he was again defeated by him.

In Book 51, Coonskin and the other Mutant Guerrillas suffered yet another loss to the Battlers, this time even worse than before, as they were caught off guard by seeing all eight of them with Battler Emeralds and thus more power. But they regrouped from the loss quickly when they were recruited by Castoro “Cast” Dammon, a Killer Beaver warrior who’d taken over control of the Killer Beavers by devouring his own chief, Chief Manhunter. He gave them each a fraction of his power (which he’d gotten from eating the chief), and used them to effectively defeat the Battlers on their next encounter. They kidnapped Deyon, Maurice, Aaron, Jon, Shauna, and Diahandra and took them to the Killer Beavers’ village, but they were once again defeated when new Orange Battler Jay Dixon used his Magic Advance on them, knocked them all out, and then rescued his kidnapped friends, with help from new White Battler Richard Montgomery.

Coonskin’s sharp teeth and powerful claws make him quite the opponent. His ability to shoot energy blasts from his mouth is especially handy. It’s evident that Richard is up for many fierce battles against one mighty opponent!
