Character Summary
Lionardo was added to the Mutant Guerrillas in Book 3, soon after
Lionardo nearly defeated and killed Green Battler Aaron
Rountree in Book 6, but
In Book 16, Lionardo left the main group with Polara after they were pulled
through time behind the Battlers in their wake. They left to follow
Lionardo and the
other Mutant Guerrillas returned to the scene after a long time away in Super
Battlers 4. He and the other mutants were hiding out in Magicia to get stronger
under the instruction of an unnamed teacher. They nearly defeated the Battlers
in a deadly battle, but thanks to Deyon’s newly-attained Battler Emerald, they were defeated instead.
Lionardo and the
other mutants were struck a terrible blow when news of former White Battler J.J.
Rountree leaving town — and the Battlers — drove their comrade, Manchomper,
the mutant Canadian beaver, to follow him out of town to continue his pursuit
of his dreams of one day eating him. But Hurtle picked up the pieces faster
than all the other mutants by having Owlina find a replacement animal to use a
Mutant Creation Spell on. They used it on a normal raccoon and created Coonskin,
who’d take over for Manchomper. Hurtle, proud of their new creation, was sure
they’d defeat the Battlers with no problems.
In Book 43, Lionardo
and the other Mutant Guerrillas ambushed the Battlers in the park. They not
only did their usual routine of threatening them with death, but they also
surprised them by revealing to them that they’d added Coonskin to their group.
They also had to tell them about Manchomper’s departure. Hurtle then engaged in
a battle with Diahandra. Unfortunately, as per usual, he was again defeated by
her.
In Book 51, Hurtle and
the other Mutant Guerrillas suffered yet another loss to the Battlers, this time
even worse than before, as they were caught off guard by seeing all eight of them
with Battler Emeralds and thus more power. But they regrouped from the loss
quickly when they were recruited by Castoro
“Cast” Dammon, a Killer Beaver warrior who’d taken over control of the Killer
Beavers by devouring his own chief, Chief Manhunter. He gave them each a
fraction of his power (which he’d gotten from eating the chief), and used them to
effectively defeat the Battlers on their next encounter. They kidnapped Deyon, Maurice,
Aaron, Jon, Shauna, and Diahandra and took them to the Killer Beavers’ village,
but they were once again defeated when new Orange Battler Jay Dixon
used his Magic Advance on them, knocked them all out, and then rescued his kidnapped
friends, with help from new White Battler Richard
Montgomery.
Lionardo, being a lion, has sharp teeth and claws to tear the flash off his
enemies. You won’t have a prayer if you go up against this guy if you’re
not a Battler! Use caution, Diahandra!
