Character Summary

Owlina, being a mutant snowy owl, is the only member of the Mutant Guerrillas who can fly. She’s had several battles with her archenemy, Aaron Rountree, the Green Battler. She’s known as the First Air Spy because she can spy on the Battlers from the air.

Owlina got her first story in Book 6 when she kidnapped Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., while Aaron was trying to protect him from the mutants. She tried her best to fight Aaron off and King under her and Evilla’s captivity, but in the end, she failed and Aaron rescued King and fled.

In Super Battlers #2, Owlina, Manchomper, Aaron, and J.J. were sucked into a book of fairy tales Aaron had bought for their cousin, Kameron. The one who’d done it was Predator, who was making another attempt to eat Manchomper and J.J. She was swallowed by Predator when she was playing the grandmother in “Little Red Riding Hood,” but Manchomper freed her because he was playing the hunter.

Owlina was also involved in the kidnapping of newcomer Jon Crawley’s family in Book 20. She’d spotted Aaron and his older brother, J.J., with Jon hours before and saw that he’d found a Battler Crystal of his own, but he didn’t know what it was.

Owlina and the other Mutant Guerrillas returned to the scene after a long time away in Super Battlers 4. He and the other mutants were hiding out in Magicia to get stronger under the instruction of an unnamed teacher. They nearly defeated the Battlers in a deadly battle, but thanks to Deyon’s newly-attained Battler Emerald, they were defeated instead.

Owlina and the other mutants were struck a terrible blow when news of former White Battler J.J. Rountree leaving town — and the Battlers — drove their comrade, Manchomper, the mutant Canadian beaver, to follow him out of town to continue his pursuit of his dreams of one day eating him. But Hurtle picked up the pieces faster than all the other mutants by sending Owlina to find a replacement animal to use the Mutant Creation Spell on. They used it on a normal raccoon and created Coonskin, who’d take over for Manchomper. Hurtle, proud of their new creation, was sure they’d defeat the Battlers with no problems.

In Book 43, Owlina and the other Mutant Guerrillas ambushed the Battlers in the park. They not only did their usual routine of threatening them with death, but they also surprised them by revealing to them that they’d added Coonskin to their group. They also had to tell them about Manchomper’s departure. Owlina then engaged in a battle with Aaron. Unfortunately, as per usual, she was again defeated by him.

In Book 51, Owlina and the other Mutant Guerrillas suffered yet another loss to the Battlers, this time even worse than before, as they were caught off guard by seeing all eight of them with Battler Emeralds and thus more power. But they regrouped from the loss quickly when they were recruited by Castoro “Cast” Dammon, a Killer Beaver warrior who’d taken over control of the Killer Beavers by devouring his own chief, Chief Manhunter. He gave them each a fraction of his power (which he’d gotten from eating the chief), and used them to effectively defeat the Battlers on their next encounter. They kidnapped Deyon, Maurice, Aaron, Jon, Shauna, and Diahandra and took them to the Killer Beavers’ village, but they were once again defeated when new Orange Battler Jay Dixon used his Magic Advance on them, knocked them all out, and then rescued his kidnapped friends, with help from new White Battler Richard Montgomery.

Owlina’s sharp talons make her a formidable opponent. She can fly for a long time without getting tired and can fight very well in the air. Aaron has beaten her many times, but a time might come when he won’t be as lucky as he’s been so far.
