• Shauna Davidson and Diahandra “Dani” Christian join the cast in this book as the two new Battlers — the Blue and Purple Battlers — and up the team from five Battlers to seven.
• Polara and Lionardo join the cast, as well, as the newest additions to the Mutant Guerrillas, when Evilla creates them to fight Shauna and Diahandra.
• Kit finds the Battler Crystals needed to recruit Shauna and Diahandra, plus an extra red one, which is later used in Book 20.
