Later, Gator!
DiCapa’s made his first attack on the Battlers by
put Maurice into a coma. But he is not done yet.
He has already sent a warning to Deyon via E-mail that he intends to go after
J.J. next — and he is not about to
let anything stop him!
But right now, J.J. has more important things to
worry about. Predator has taken his determination to eat him to the next level
with a set of brand-new spells meant especially for defeating him. And when he
manages to capture the other Battlers, J.J. knows he has to stop him for good.
So he calls on some old allies for help in preparing for his final showdown
against Predator. . . .
NOTES:
- This
book is narrated by J.J., the White Battler.
- Because
of J.J.’s upcoming departure, this is the last book that he narrates on
his own. (The not-yet-written Super Battlers 4 is the last book he
narrates with the other Battlers.)
- This
book has a prologue and an epilogue in it, making it the second one to
have both a prologue and an
epilogue in it. (The first was Book
27.)
- This
book is the longest regular title as it has 250 pages — 242 in the main
story, seven in the preview chapter, and the one page summarizing Book
35!
- Maurice,
the Silver Battler, does not appear in this book, marking the first
regular title (excluding the ones about Shauna and Diahandra’s journey)
that he doesn’t appear in.
- The
Bugs Bunny cartoon Jay refers to involved Bugs disguising as a truant
officer and saving Hansel and Gretel from being eaten by Witch Hazel.
Because of that, she tries to eat him and sings the same song Predator is
singing while cutting up the vegetables.
- J.J.
will ONLY be playing Andy Parker on Passions
in the Battlers’ universe. NOT in real life.
- The
Passions characters J.J. names
(T.C., Eve, Chad, Sam, Grace, Miguel, Charity, and Kay) exist on the real
show, although currently, Grace, Miguel, and Charity are all off the show, and this book takes
place in February of 2002, when they were still on the show.
- The
Seizing Spheres spell Predator uses to capture the other Battlers is the
same spell Infernus used on Shauna, Diahandra, Derrick, and Felicia in the
second adventure of Book
31. Predator learned it from the same place — a villain’s convention
in Chicago.
- Finally,
after so many appearances, Predator eats the other Battlers — he eats
Keese, Jon, Aaron, and Deyon during a battle! He eats J.J. later on.
- This
is Predator’s final living appearance.
- The
Deadly Duo of Predator and Chief Manhunter is dissolved by his death.
(Actually, it is dissolved when Predator eats Keese and Chief Manhunter
finds out about it by reading J.J.’s mind.)
- This
is the first book Chief Manhunter appears in without having his five
emotions (patience, calmness, sternness, fierceness, and hunger)
mentioned.
- The Crocous family
resurfaces in this book!
- Chompus introduces a
playful greeting to non-Crocoan allies — swallowing them whole and
throwing them up!
- Fangorus is adopted
by Stalker and Bitena in the next-to-last chapter of this book.
- DiCapa makes his
strike against J.J. in the last chapter and the epilogue of this book by
kidnapping him and locking him in his secret panic room. The remaining
Battlers do not find this out until Book
35.
- DiCapa uses his kiss
for the first time since Book
21 — on J.J.! But he just gets put to sleep by it.
- To further explain
DiCapa’s kiss, if he holds his lips on the victim’s lips for up to one
second, he or she will just be stunned and might get dizzy. If he holds it
for two seconds, he or she will be put to sleep. Three seconds brings on a
seizure. Four seconds induces a coma. Five or more seconds deals instant death.
J.J. is still alive after the kiss — he’s just sleeping — so DiCapa obviously held
the kiss for two seconds.
