End of the Road
Diahandra, Shauna,
Derrick, Jamal, and Felicia have left Los Angeles
and have entered a Nevada
forest. There, Diahandra has sealed her newest Battler Animal. But after she does
that, the kids are captured by the residents of the forest — the Killer Squirrels.
But they are rescued at once by the forest protector, who has a plan to defeat the
Killer Squirrels. . . .
Then, the kids finally get back to Woodbridge, where the moment they’ve dreaded
finally arrives — the time when they all have to say goodbye. Of course, an encounter
with Infernus and Volcanis can’t be ruled out. . . .
NOTES:
- This
book is narrated by Diahandra, the Purple Battler.
- This
is the last book that chronicles Shauna
and Diahandra’s journey.
- The
adventures in this book take place during the timeframe of Books 34 and
35.
- This
is the second and last book that chronicles only two adventures on Shauna and Diahandra’s journey.
- This
is the fourth book to have both a prologue and
an epilogue, the first three being Book
27, Book
34, and Book
38.
- Diahandra
seals a new Battler Animal in this book — a squirrel she names Nut.
- This
marks the first appearance of the Killer Squirrels, including warrior Niger
Walnu, and their chief, Chief
Mankiller.
- Niger’s
first name comes from the scientific name of the fox squirrel, Sciurus niger.
His last name, Walnu, is, of course, the word “walnut,” minus the “t.”
- Infernus
and Volcanis return in this book.
- The
final chapter before the epilogue ends right before Shauna
and Diahandra’s grand entrance in Book
36.
- This
is Derrick, Jamal, and Felicia’s final appearances as “starring”
characters as Jamal and Felicia part ways with Shauna, Diahandra, and
Derrick to return home, and Derrick decides to take a break from using his
animal transformation magic and just be a normal teenager for awhile — and
stay out of Shauna and Diahandra’s Battler lives.
