Legacy

Richard is having some problems with his alligator, Steeltooth. He won’t obey a single command given to him, which will be a serious problem with round two of the Tournament of Wonder coming up.

But Richard and the other Battlers have bigger problems. An exiled Gatoran with ties to the late Predator has kidnapped Richard in his attempt to avenge the evil alligator king’s death. The mysterious Gatoran is out for the White Battler’s blood — but he’s in for a rude awakening when he discovers Richard’s not the White Battler he’s looking for. . . .

NOTES:

  • This book is narrated by Richard, the new White Battler.
  • This is the first book ever to be narrated by Richard!
  • The Battlers learn about the Stone of Absor and figure out what Chief Manhunter’s plan is.
  • This book marks the first appearance of Scalorus “Carnivore” Gatorus, the younger brother of Predator! It was originally planned that he would be Richard’s ultimate enemy, but plans for that were scrapped when things began to look like a J.J./Predator redux. Instead, Richard will meet his true ultimate enemy in the next book he narrates (the not-yet-written Book 50).
  • This book also features Richard’s first-ever battle with his new archenemy, Coonskin.
  • Richard undergoes his Crystal Advance!
  • Richard learns Cloudburst and Waterfall as a result of the Crystal Advance!
  • The Battlers learn something amazing about their Battler Animals: they can talk when the Battlers training them rise to the Battler Emerald level!
  • Round two of the Tournament of Wonder begins. Aaron and Richard’s battles are the only ones (in which at least one competitor is a Battler) featured in this book.
  • The Crocoans make an appearance in this book. Richard learns they found out about him through J.J.
  • Carnivore is revealed to be unwittingly working for Chief Manhunter and Cast at the end of the book!
  • It is revealed that Cast owns a spider-bear from his training in Beaveron named Ursarachnid. Spider-bears were last featured in Book 12 and Book 13.
  • This book introduces solar mages and solar magic.
