Obsession

Shauna and the other Battlers are in really big trouble now. With all six of the boys upgraded to the Battler Emerald level and the evil Chief Manhunter out to try and force the girls’ Battler Crystal to be upgraded, too, it’s too dangerous for them in town. So they agree to leave town for awhile Deyon and the boys can think of a plan to stop the chief.

But there’s lots more danger out of town than in town. With their old friends from the road, Derrick, Jamal, and Felicia, Shauna and Diahandra meet the boy who beat Shauna in the Tournament of Wonder and hide out on his Kansas farm. Which isn’t so bad, except for the attraction he seems to be harboring toward Shauna. A rather deadly attraction. . . .

NOTES:

• This book is narrated by Shauna, the Blue Battler.
• This book marks the second appearance of Jeremy Frost, who was first introduced in Book 45.
• Jamal and Felicia make their first appearances since Book 39. Derrick makes his first appearance since Book 40.
• The Sabre Brothers make their triumphant return. They were last seen in Book 31.
• Maurice, Richard, Jay, Aaron, and Jon only appear until Shauna and Diahandra leave town with Derrick, Jamal, and Felicia. They do not appear for the rest of the book, although they are mentioned at various times.
• This is the first book since his introduction in which Cast does not appear.
• There is no Tournament of Wonder “footage” in this book.
• Shauna undergoes her Crystal Advance!
• Shauna learns three new spells — Furious Flurry, Freeze Punch, and Freeze Kick.
