Philip DiCapa has grieved the deaths of his parents, Liam and Susan, for months. But his grief is finally starting to rise to the surface, and he’s now ready to make the party he deems responsible pay for their deaths. Unfortunately, that party is the Battlers, and knowing he can use him, Cast has taken full of advantage of that, giving him magic powers.

Now, Jon and the other Battlers have to do what they can to get Philip to overcome his grief and see that they’re not his enemies. But they have to think of a way to do that fast, because hell hath no fury like a DiCapa scorned. And boy, how Philip has been scorned. . . .

• Cast eats Philip near the end of this book and starts absorbing his powers with the Stone of Absor.
